In baseball, the incidents are rare but when they occur, they are quite surprising. Alex Cobb, the pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, has taken a bullet struck nearly 165 km / h in the face. Fortunately for him, the consequences were less.

Last Saturday, the Tampa Bay Rays faced on the lawn of their stadium, Tropicana Field, the Kansas City Royals. While Tampa Bay was before the Royals in the fifth inning and led the score of 3 to 2, drummer Eric Hosmer hit a ball thrown by Alex Cobb. It has simply taken in the face. Or rather on the side of the face, ear level. The blow was so violent that Alex Cobb had no other choice than to curl up on itself and wait for the medical staff. Fortunately, we can see from the video that the pitcher Tampa Bay Rays was still conscious after the impact point because he moves his legs. Without losing consciousness on the field, Alex Cobb was transported on a stretcher off the field and taken to the nearest medical center. Florida doctors could say Alex Cobb suffered a mild concussion. And we can say that the pitcher Tampa Bay is pretty well out as the ball was measured at almost 165 km / h before crashing.
Danger and solidarity This incident shows us two things. First, that baseball is not just a sport where players are at bases and other bases that are trying to catch the ball thrown. Baseball, like many sports, can be dangerous, knowing that a ball is made of leather and weighs around 140 grams. A small weight but with the strike force, can multiply. In a second step, this event demonstrated that solidarity among players is present in baseball. Indeed, many players - from both teams - left the lawn when Alex Cobb was transported by stretcher to encourage and try to comfort him. In the end, it seems that this incident is somewhat disrupted the team Tampa Bay because it is the other team that is imposed on the score of 5 to 3.
